- Birth Certificate is taken care off by the hospital. You must give the name of the baby before you leave the hospital. I am aware that in our culture, we usually name the baby based on his birth chart. If you do not have a name ready, birth certificate is issued as boy/girl and family name.
- Social Security Number - The hospital takes care of this too, if you request them.
- Passport - You can apply for the passport with/without the SSN. I chose to do it after I received my son's SSN. The following website gives all information and provides links to passport application forms: http://travel.state.gov/passport/get/first/first_832.html . I applied for my son's passport in the local post office.
